You can use a filler, but could be cheaper to replace the door. Or remove all the veneer and paint it.
Agree with Anita that the cost of materials plus your time in trying to repair the door so that it looks attractive, may very well be more expensive than purchasing a brand new interior door.
Cover the entire door with a new surface - Veneer or thin MDF or Hardboard. or buy a new or possibly second-hand door to replace it.
Add moldings to your design & stain or paint
I like your response. I think that maybe what we will do. The price and how they are now making interior doors my husband and I don't like. The cheaper priced doors are cheap in quality and the nicer doors or too expensive for us. Thanks ☺.
Go to habitat for humanity they have the nice heavy wooden doors you can paint to make them look just like new
What about covering them in wall paper or material?
It looks like a strip of the lauan veneer is missing. These are the cheap doors that are still available. Around $30. Adding a thin skin like floor underlayment plywood ($15 for a 4x8 sheet) will cause you to have to reset the hinges and the striker since this is the side that closes against the door stop. I would replace the door since it would be more work to repair this one and it would not look as good.
I agree with Ken! The veneer is peeled right off. Those doors are still available and cheaper than any repair you can do.
If you want to fill it with Bondo, that’s cheap and will stay. You can have a similar color of brown paint mixed to match.
