Sharon, The flower is identical but my leaves are not serrate and the stems are not prickly. The flowers look exactly alike.

Looks like a tibouchina or clematis plant.
VINCA
SOME PEOPLE CALL IT PERIWINKLE
not periwinkle.
Is it a spruce.
It looks like a type of Portulaca
Impatient.Likes shade
Looks like clematis to me also.....not a ground cover but might be if you didn't plant it near something to climb up on. Mine started crawling around the ground this spring so had to train it to go up the trellis. Mine has red blooms and the other had purple bloom.s
This is a frustrating plant to identify. The suggestions so far match the flower but not the plant. With each answer I have searched Google for confirmation. There were several wild roses mentioned but it is not a Rosa. Also not portulaca, not vinca, not impatiens, not tibouchina, not spruce, not periwinkle. There are many similar clematis but clematis usually has 6, 7, or 8 petals whereas mine has only 5. It is specifically a ground cover and might grow over something but does not climb nor have any erect stems. I had some in a pot but it only got to be 3 or 4 inches tall before it drooped over the side and started spreading. It can form a mound by growing on top of itself. Again, thanks to everyone. Maybe someone will have a spark and we will solve it.
Look up creeping thyme or creeping phlox
Perennial geranium.
