You seem to be your worst critic. Listen to the praise you’re getting from the experts and ask them how you might make it better. They’ll be flattered you asked their opinion, and you’ll continue to learn. Nobody is born an expert at anything.
Sometimes I feel the same way, but I find that either changing how/what I PLANNED to make into something that works the way it came out is good - and sometimes better. We are usually very critical of ourselves, but I think your fairyscape is adorable!
Always remember, that if you think you could have done better, you probably will next time.....
Hi,
You are not alone, everyone feels that way.
If you can say to yourself;- There will always be, one person who is better
than me, as well as, There will always be, one person who is worse.
That way you are walking through life observing, learning, and practicing.
My advice would be, look at what others have done, and join Pinterest.
Keep track of all the crafts, that catch your eye. Eventually, you will be
motivated to try it. Start simply, because if it has too many steps, you may feel discouraged. Have you thought of going to a class?
here is a site you may enjoy, loaded with many types of crafts, sewing jewelry making (tassel earrings are trending) etc.

Hi, I also understand this feeling. I now try to convince myself that what I have done is my individual and alternative take on it and it is not going to be exactly the same as any one else's as no person is the same as another so appreciate your individuality and your own take on things. I personally love things that are different and not perfect as that is life and trying to have everything perfect is stressful for me anyway. Good luck I am still practicing this in my life but I am sure we will all eventually get there x
My mother used to say "A man on a galloping house would never know the difference." and she never once had someone gallop by and say something was not good enough. She did so many things, that it was said she could fix anything from a broken heart to the break of dawn ,and we held her to it. All of us 11 kids. It truly is in the eyes of the beholder, you have to believe the beholders eyes are right, and maybe you need some pink glasses to see the beauty of your work. Don't put your work down.
Well, you sound like me, and from the photo you craft like me. The little rock thing is cute, but you want better. My advice? Keep adding rocks, but I would avoid the colors. If possible take the outside rim of rocks off. Replace them with matching rocks or even smoother stones in the same natural color. Filll on any larger holes with the colored pieces. Maybe stick some fake pieces of greenery here and there. You have a great start!
Everyone seems to have an opinion, ignore the ones you don't like. If you enjoy quilting, keep going, it makes no difference what anyone else thinks or says. In other words do it for your self and enjoy what you make. Have some fun.
Let’s take your quilting for an example. If everyone (like the teacher and EXPERT) is telling you your doing great for a first time quilter, BELIEVE them. But remember you are a BEGINNER. Ya know the old saying you have to learn how to crawl before you walk? Well you are crawling. Have you spent your whole life being able to do everything perfectly the first time? No, of course not, that’s ridiculous. The amazing finished projects you see on here and on other DIY sites are not usually first attempts. Most of the stuff I post are 3rd or 30th attempts. I’ve been building furniture and renovating furniture for decades, two years ago I finally created a piece I was 100% satisfied with for the FIRST time and I worked on it for weeks. It’s a fantastic repurpose of an old, solid black, retail gun display case and a nasty, old scrap wood built cabinet into a beautiful, driftwood looking bathroom display storage unit with a solid cabinet on the bottom and glass on top and it’s beautiful...
... then I cracked a piece of glass moving it into place. Ya know what? The glass is still cracked, I see it every day a dozen times and I’m still 100% satisfied with the piece because of its defects. Now it also has an interesting story and when people mention the cracked glass I have an opportunity to tell them the story of rehabbing and building this piece. So basically give yourself the chance to learn and grow and become an expert before expecting perfection. Then when perfection doesn’t match the picture in your head, adjust the picture. Only nature is perfect, the rest of us are still learning.
Obviously you're not alone in your feelings! We all have them. Just try to relax and enjoy the things you do--while you're doing them. If the results don't match your mind's eye, well. . .maybe the next one might. Enjoy your creative urge. Listen to your muse.
