Unpainted drywall? Steam it off, repair drywall and paint. Or, if it is not a large area, just replace the drywall if you do not get it steamed off successfully. Either option is a pain in the neck. Sorry this happened to you!
You strip it off.

I normally don't advise painting wallpaper. No primer or sizing and just glued directly on drywall. It will not come off easy. Best solution is to clean, prime with Kilz and paint.
It's not smooth... That's my problem.
If you want to try steaming it off (which really probably is your best bet) but don't want to rent a steamer yet, you can do this: heat a tea-kettle full of water; when it hits boiling, you simply point the spout toward your wall, getting it as close as you can without actually touching. The goal is to get the steam onto the wall. Move it back and forth for a few seconds, then try using a (plastic) putty-knife to lift a bit of wallpaper off at the seam. Starting in the middle of a sheet will just make you crazy. I actually used this method to completely remove a kitchen's worth of wallpaper -- although it was on painted drywall, which will release better than unpainted. Good luck.
We had ours professionally painted. The painter used an oil base paint and it worked perfectly! Still up after 2 years with no seams showing or peeling!
Hello Lauren,
Steam it off using a Hired Steam machine and re-paper or Paint the walls.
Since it is not smooth, you can rent a steam machine and remove it, that will work, but may leave your wall with an uneven surface, needing replacement or repair. Here's a link with the how to:
