No matter what I do, I end up with white soap marks when I do laundry. I have tried vinegar, extra rinse and cleaning the washing machine. Any suggestions?

Are you using powder? Try using a liquid detergent if you are. We have hard water and it was a constant problem until I switched.

I had this problem with my old machine, even after I switched to liquid detergent. I was told that it was actually a lint build up. It did help to put vinegar with the soap, not just in the rinse cycle. I also would wash the clothes inside out. If I didn't put them in the dryer, it was awful.

Also, use a bit less than the recommended amount of detergent, so the suds rinse out. I do think the amounts on the package are necessary only for really dirty clothes.

Cynthia has a good point about the powdered detergent and hard water. Maybe it isn't being fully mixed into the water before the clothing is put in.

Does your washer have a setting to adjust the level of the water? Even though you mentioned that you have already tried extra rinses, I am wondering if there is (a) insufficient water to fully rinse the soap out and/or (b) too much detergent.
