Roundup will work fine, but take out the grass if any too Roundup is very quickly neutralized with contact of soil. thus, it will not make it to the tree roots, I use it around 5 apple trees, 7 yellow willow, 1 crab apple, and 4 spruce trees. I go right under three of the spruce trees set in a triangle to keep the weeds down under them. Just do NOT use any thing containing DICAMBA, it will hurt the trees.
