Here's what I did - a 'no-chemical' method:

I saw a cool technique on Rehab Addict, she had an old crock pot and just put them in it with water overnight and the paint came right off with a wire brush.
If you can remove them, try soaking in warm vinegar.
1. Find an old pot that you will not use to cook in again... fill with water and bring to a boil.... put door hardware in the pot of boiling water.. reduce to a simmer for about 15-20 minutes
2. Fill a second pot or container (one you won't use for food again) and fill with iced or really cold water..... put the HOT hardware in the Cold water.... The rapid expansion and contraction of the metal will cause the paint to almost pop right off.... a little clean up with a wire brush or steel wool... a little metal polish.... and you are done.

I've seen that crockpot method on more than one rehab show. Just be sure you use an old crockpot because you cannot use it for food after using it to remove paint. From what I have seen, it works!
Good Luck
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
Hi, Use a Gel Paint Remover, or scrape them manually. Good luck!
