To distill water, the water is boiled to steam. The steam is caught by a lid and guided into another container to condense back into water. As a result hard minerals, etc. are removed.
Purified water is just boiled to kill any bacteria/germs.
Great question!

I use distilled water in my iron, steamers, curling iron, humidifier or anything that calls for water as my tap water is too full of minerals and lime which clog the appliances over time.
Hi Bet,
The difference between pure and distilled water is pretty much the process of how it got to what it is. So yes, they are basically the same. Distilled water goes through a distillation process, while the pure water might go through osmosis, or something similar. Visit this website to learn more. Wishing you the best.
Hi, distilling water strips away everything in the water, the natural minerals even the H2o. Pure water still has all it's benefits left. Using distilled water in things such as irons for clothing will not leave any deposits in the iron which can cause clogging.
Distilled water is the same as what comes out of a dehumidifier. Purified water is what comes out of a R/O water filter system and has no metals or anything in it. We have an R/O system for making purified water for our saltwater fish tanks, they can't handle all the stuff in tap water and it really screws up the various levels you need for a healthy and thriving fish and coral in the tanks. Distilled water usually has copper in it from the pipes used in the distillation process, not as clean for drinking or cooking. Pure water probably is the same as the purified drinking water that you can purchase, but cleaner than what is called just drinking water. I hope this helps you with the difference between the two, Bet!
