Can an old Orchid rebloom?
I have an orchid with roots coming out all over.. Has not bloomed in years. Should I repot it? or how can I make it into a good looking plant as it once was?

I have several orchids in my East window that constantly bloom. Just water once a week. They have a lot of roots also.
They will rebloom. Change he location you are keeping it. Maybe it needs more sun? Maybe it needs repotting. They have special orchid soil- it has chunks of wood in it. Also the pot must have a lot of holes.
you probably do need to repot and possible give it some orchid food.
I did change the loction and soil and nothing happened----then I moved it outside and now one of the plants has bloomed a very small and very fragant - light orchid color
Hello Lucille,
Yes, Do re-pot it and give it fresh orchid compost...................Good luck
Orchids need to be repotted at least every couple of years. The bark medium breaks down and no longer gives them the nutrition the need. The roots above the medium are ok, they take the humidity out of the air that they need, just mist them once in a while. Make sure you use an orchid fertilizer, I use a spray on one. I had one that didn't bloom when the rest did, when I looked at the medium, I noticed that it didn't look so hot. I repotted it in new orchid bark and a week later had a flower stalk coming out. We water ours with the two pot system. Put tepid water in the decorative pot, let it soak for ten to fifteen minutes, take the inner pot out and let it drain for a while. Our orchids (we have about eight) love our south window and bloom at least twice a year with proper watering and fertilizing. They really don't take much care otherwise. I hope this helps you get your Orchid blooming again, Lucille!
I have mine in an East window. I put a plant platter with decorative rocks under it. All I do is fill the platter when it gets dry. I never water my orchid and I get multiple, new spikes and flowers every year. I also read that if the leaves are too green they won't spike, that they need to be a little yellow.
