Adirondack chairs are sometimes low enough to the ground so you can see through the railing of the deck. You can also buy a tall, bar height table with bar stools so you can look over the railing. An outdoor umbrella would be an easy fix for the sun but another good idea is an outdoor shade cloth that you can hang from the roof over the deck.
Is it in your budget to replace the railing, Jenny? There are materials that could minimize the blocking of the view. You might also consider an overhang to protect you from the sun.
Chairs and Table with umbrella may be the cheapest way true. Was thinking of a pergola since I have no overhang, but height from house may be too low for that. Hoping to provide more permanent protection.
