I have friends who have composite decking and they said maintenance is as easy as sweeping and washing their deck off.
I have read reviews on the tree decking. .you might want to do that also. .I think there is another line a little cheaper than the tree but haven't price it yet. .trek decking. .the tree above is supposed to be trek. Sorry I don't know how that happened. .ha .we also wanted it but could not afford it .maybe it will come down in price like everything else ..Good luck with your new deck. .
Back in 2002/3 (it has been a long time!) my girlfriend relocated from Los Angeles, CA to Asheville, NC. We road tripped in her car and it is a trip neither of us will ever forget! I helped her and her husband hire contractors, architects, procure materials and build their house from the ground up on the lot they purchased.
We decided on a Trex product back then, (mind you I am from CA and had never built a house in NC before, so I had to study quick), and as of this date, they are still in tip top shape. They have 3 porch / decks on their house and her husband is a stickler for maintenance. Place is like a museum. They still look brand new today. They also have wood decks on their property that have weathered well too much to my surprise.
Check this out.

Thank you!
If you have grandchildren, that might be on the deck, just remember that all composites get very hot and could burn bare feet. My one daughter has trex, and cement in her backyard. The cement is much cooler. My other daughter has a patio of E P Henry expensive pavers and thay can get hot, too, but not as hot as trex. We are planning to put in a deck in the fall and have started researching aluminum since we now have to grandsons living with us and are putting a pool in next spring. Aluminum is maintenance free like the composite but it stays cooler and is slip resistant.
I have heard people in our neighborhood say that Trex gets very hot from the sun and they were disppointed they had it installed. You may want to research that issue to be sure!
