Thanks Sandy! Airing it out after each wash, wiping the gasket, and using measured detergent made all the difference. Most people use too much detergent and the residue builds up.
Great tip! Most people use far too much detergent anyway. I am limited as to what I can use detergent wise as one of my dogs has skin issues, luckily the detergent she can tolerate is an inexpensive free and clear type.
My client had that problem too, we just put the dryer sheet box in the door to prevent it closing and it doesn't smell anymore.
Thanks Sandy. A lot of people seem to have this problem with the front loading washers. The remedy is to clean under the edge of the gasket - which I think is a manufacturer's design mess-up. But now I'm wondering if the laundry detergent might be part of the culprit? Do you use a high concentrate. low-filler detergent? That would be helpful to know. :)
Oxyclean added to your wash and you’ll never have that smell again! Plus the clothes smell delightful.
I had the same problem. I switched from Arm & Hammer with oxyclean to another brand. My towels smelled awful. After cleaning out the gasket, the detergent basket and the water valve on the bottom, which took 3 hours, I used my Arm and Hammer. Never had a problem again.
