Interested in planting tomatoes 🍅 is it byter to start with potted ones ? I’ve heard that planting fresh herbs with them is best. Any suggestions on where to purchase seeds ? Or should I start with plants? Thanks!!

  • Where in CA are you moving to? This late in the season, better to start with established plants from a nursery. Depending on where you are moving to, we can still have tomatoes in November, and in rare cases, even longer. Companion planting is always good! Marigolds, parsley, basil are all good with tomatoes.

Thank you! Northern California Santa Clarita area

    • Santa Clarita is in Southern California. I am in Castaic, an unincorporated portion of Los Angeles County. Santa Clarita is directly adjacent to Castaic, I live right behind Magic Mountain and across the street from the prison in the no longer cheap seats.

If you are unfamiliar with the area, it gets very hot here in summer! Which can last through Thanksgiving.

      Welcome to CA!🌞

A little late to start tomatoes from seeds. Get used to gardening - before starting things from seeds.
