We just remodeled a room where there is tile near the entryway, but most of the room is white oak hardwood. After considering many types of transition options, we decided to go with a strip of flooring running perpendicular to the rest of the wood floor and forming a flush border with the tile. There is no grout between the tile and wood. It looks great. The hard part was making sure the tile was level with the wood. Do the wood first and then the tile.
I bought one of the molding transition and used it but it seems to make it alot higher that the other flooring. It catches dirt and I have to use a toothbrush to clean up against it. I will try something flatter.
