I’m not sure what your budget constraints are, but perhaps you can take what’s left of the cushions to an upholstery shop. This way you can discuss your needs and concerns with an expert. He or she can tell you the best fabric and foam to use.
Foam can be very expensive and there are so many types. I've had great success with USAfoam.com. They have reasonable prices compared to most and if you call and talk to them they graciously explain all the ins and outs of which foam you need. I learned a lot from them. For fabric, check only upholstery fabric. It's much more durable than fabric used for clothes. There is a separate department for it and some areas even have upholstery fabric stores. I prefer polypropylene, nylon and microfibers for standing up to the abuse of animals and children.
