How do I paint over dark painted walls?
My bedroom has very dark painted walls. I have never painted over them because it wasn't sure how to without it showing through. Any ideas?

You would want to prime them first with a primer like Kilz--you can have it tinted to your new paint color. Or you can buy a paint with a primer already in it and do several coats. I prefer using a primer first when going from a very dark color to a lighter color.
Definitely use a primer. I used to have a dark red wall in my living room and even with a paint with primer in it, it took 3 coats to cover. Would have been better off using a primer first.
Wash, prime, and paint.
My granddaughter painted one wall in her bedroom black, and the other three walls a dark purple. When she moved out her mother painted all the walls with a high quality Flat Latex Paint with Primer from Valspar in a very light gray, and it only required one coat. Looks great and full, total coverage. Just saying.
Thank you!
