most any DIY product will have to be reapplied as soon as you see new growth; the Salt/Vinegar/Soap isn't absorbed into the roots thru the leaves -- it only kills the 'green stuff; but ... repeated use will eventually rob the root system of that weed of the nutrients supplied by the leaves and it will eventually 'starve' ... but you've spent a LOT of $ and TIME when a properly applied commercial product will kill the entire plant -- roots and all!

Hi Kristi, I don't want to come across as a snot, but the best DIY weed killer is simply pulling the weeds with your hands. If you're talking about weeds in a garden, apply a heavy layer of mulch to keep the weeds down. Good luck!
