There is a wall and back splash in my kitchen. It is faux red brick and a plastic material. I want to paint it. The
grout between the brick sections is very rough. How should I do this?

Hi there, if you're ok with the grout and the brick being the same color then you'll want to use a brush and do it all by hand. Because its in a kitchen definitely clean it all really well first and use a good primer (two coats) before the paint.
The "grout" is actually the adhesive holding the tiles. GrandmasHouseDIY is the best and easiest solution.
You could do a compound wall add heavy compound on the wall wile wet make brick markings in the compound after it dries paint it.
