Get rid of the bugs they prey upon. Field crickets? You have a wet place. Ants? Clean their trails. Spiders are probably the least of your worries, as they prey upon bugs that would do us harm. No need to worry more about them than, say, roaches or silverfish. You don't bother them; they don't bother you.

You can clear old spiderwebs. They don't mind; they build new ones.

I hope you can find a workable solution.

When I moved into this old house it was full of spider webs everywhere which freaked me out cause I hate spiders. I got out my caulk gun and caulked all the moldings like the crown and baseboards, window frames and any place they could crawl through. I'm happy to say I rarely get them inside.

We also have huge garden spiders here in the summer, my friend used to come over every summer and spray using a garden sprayer about 10' out from the house with a vinegar mixture so I could tend my rhododendrons.

I know this sounds silly, but I spray around my windows and doors with lemon furniture polish, Lightly of course, but spiders do not care for oily surfaces or citrus. I used to have a small invasion of wolf spiders every fall, but now I don't see them.
