Hi Ric, you have 2 options, set traps and relocate them or choot’em. (We have them too, I just let them be. )
Groundhogs are nasty! Be careful! http://www.veggiegardeningtips.com/how-to-quickly-easily-trap-nuisance-groundhogs
Note: I have heard that if you make a barricade around a groundhog hole and place the trap inside the barricade you will have better luck.
Ric, Hi. They like dense bushes to make their 2 holes, one for in and one for out. Cover one hole with some large boulders. Next wait to make sure it's not in it's den, then cover that hole the same way. Before all this, call your local animal control. They will come with a trap and catch it, they like canaloupe, check that spelling. Have one on hand for the trap. They'll take it away. Then you can fix the holes. We had the same problem, what a mess. Now we have a raccoon ripping up shingles. Good Luck. P S soak some rags in ammonia, and lay it by the open hole that you leave for him to exit.
