How do I give the side of house curb appeal?
A walkway connects our street to another and is directly across from the side of house. People coming to our street look right at this boring site. Help!

Maybe some bushes a trellis with a. Limping plant maybe a bird bath a bench
Plant something like clematis or climbing roses. Put up a trellis for them to climb on. That will give color and texture.
Yes like the others say, put in a couple of trees, ones that don't grow to tall or some pencil pines and shrubs lower down make a curving edge with ground cover plants as well And either pebbles or bark to help with the weeds and to look nice.

Bring the bed in the front around the corner (rounded, not square) and make a planting bed across the entire side of the house. Then plant the bed starting with taller shrubs in back next to house and graduating to shorter plants in front. Use perennials so you won't have to replant every year. You didn't ask about the front, but I would remove the tall bushes next to the front door, in fact, remove all the tall bushes and replant the front bed in shorter plants. I don't see a walkway to the front door, maybe it's the angle of the photo. If you don't have a front walkway, I would put one in, at least stepping stones.
I totally agree with Kathryn but add: paint the downspout the color of your house-brick; it is not an architectural detail.
Since the area is so open and there is only the one lower window to consider you want to go with something with some height to it. A taller tree or two like in the front bed or a climbing plant with a colorful trellis behind it. Then fill the rest in with some medium height shrubs or add some colorful planters. It really needs some color there. I would personally add a bird bath and maybe a shepherd's hook with some bird houses and feeders. Try to use as many perennials as possible so they will come back each year. This area has alot of potential. Just remember when planting to take into consideration how big a plant or tree will get over time and make sure not to crowd the area with plantings when you start.
This is something I did on a fence that hides our fuel barrel. It can be an addition to what others are suggesting for your house. It adds whimsical to your yard. I’ve gotten many compliments from visitors, especially my grandchildren.
Make a bench with 6 cinder blocks and 2 four by fours in the center of wall anchor with 2 y'all planters some small plants knockout roses and some flag stone or cement walking stone for a path to connect the front to the side of the house
I forgot to include a picture of my bench
This is what I did along my driveway, everything is in pots. I was going for a Tuscan vibe, pots make it easier to change out each season or if one dies. Hope this inspires you..
Looks like the area gets some sun. I'd plant raspberries and tomatoes, along with everyone's landscaping and trellis suggestions.
Perfect place for a barn quilt. Just Google it. Easiest, quickest, and not necessarily permanent!
If you have the energy, you could transplant the taller shrubs from the front of your house. I did that 2 years ago. I purchased modern new plants for the front. My back yard which was void of all green except grass, looks great. Lots of watering at first but I saved a lot of money. The front garden has given my house a much more modern look. Enjoy.
You could actually add some huge art while waiting for greenery to grow. Frame & hang a decorative shower curtain.....or 2! 😎
Thank you Robyn Garner - you gave me the answer to a huge issue I have!!
You basically have a blank canvas! The ideas and possibilities are almost limitless. Anything you do will probably be better than what’s there already.
