How do you get rid of sink/drain flies?
I would like to know how to get rid those pesty little sink/drain flies. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, drain cleaners and put plastic over the drains.
John, I called the local university extension about this years ago and they told me that the best way is to hang a fly strip (yes, the old school fly strips that are glue) for about a week. The flies have only a 3 day life cycle, so all stages of the insect should be cycled through in a week or 10 days.
Main thing you need to do is get rid of the fruit/veggies that are drawing them in the first place. Usually, that will eliminate them in a day or two!
saucer of cider vinegar with a touch of Dawn liquid draws them in and kills them.
Hi John. I put apple cider vinegar in a small bowl and add a little dish soap. Then I add just enough water so the soap starts making tiny bubbles, just a splash. Keep them out for about 1 week and they should be gone. Good Luck!
Fruit flies can come directly from the store. Most likely from bananas. They live on bananas as eggs, then brought to your warm kitchen and hatch.
Rinse your bananas as soon as you bring them home. That will prevent them from hatching. No more fruit flies!
The Apple cider vinegar and liquid dish soap is your best bet. But I cover my dish/jar with Saran Wrap a stick some small holes in top so the flies are trapped inside. Your dish will be full of these pesky flies. Change it out often
hank you.!
