Looks like a golden tortoise beetle. Colors can vary but they r called goldbugs. You may never have noticed them except this one is definitely on the gold end of the color variance. They eat leaves off morning glory and sweet potato. That's my guess, it is pretty cool though.
It is a snouted weevil- the females burrow into plants and fruits and lay their eggs. There are 48 000 species in this group, each species has its own prefered food type -hope this helps-ps: they do much damage to food crops. I love them as they have faces that are very dog-like, in my opinion. I am an amateur entomologist and love all insects.

In Ohio, they are called stink bugs. If you smash them, they put off a foul smell.
