Hi. Actually it's a tree. I've got one in a pot in my backyard right now. I've also got the seed sprouting from the one avocado I got off said tree. I bought the one outside as a five foot tree. The seed is currently in water. I'm waiting for roots to appear so I can plant in a pot. Then -- it's a waiting game. Hopefully next year I'll get more avocados off my tree. Fingers crossed...

Hi. It's a native of South America, so it can't be planted where there's even a hint of frost. I can't guarantee that the seed (some call it a pit) will produce, but give it 5 years and see what happens.
Believed to originate in Mexico. I have grown lots of them over the years and given away as gifts. Does not tolerate cold or frost. Needs full sun and well draining soil.
