I need a clever idea for a broom closet?
My kitchen does not have the wall space for even a little between-the-studs closet so I need an idea of how to hide alway my broom and swifter. My house is a super tiny row house so storage is a real challenge. I’m attaching a photo of my kitchen for reference. The wall oppositr the stove is the stairway and half bath. The end wall is the entry to the living room. It’s a tight squeeze but I love it! The broom/mop issue is the only thing I’m pulling my heart out over. Even my fridge is under the counter fridge drawers so there are no tall spaces to sneak in a slide out. Help!

Put hooks on the inside of your bathroom door and hook the broom and dustpan in there
Do you have a linen closet? You can hang it on the inside of the door. We keep our kitchen broom and dustpan on another floor of our split level. They aren't in the kitchen and not super convenient. But it's only 30 seconds away. Good luck! Hugs, Holly
Hang them on the wall and then hang a curtain rod above with curtains long enough to cover them completely. Then it will look as if there is a window there. You can even get sneaky and put a small stick up light that is battery operated. When people are there during the day, it will even appear as if there is sunlight.
Crazy-I was thinking to create an art piece, cover them up to blend w/the wood pattern, or .. the window/curtain idea is good.
OXO Good Grips brand broomstick holders are a very good quality product. They hold the different sized items firmly with rubber, and yet allow them to be easily accessible. Holders are available in single units or in multiple designs.
Thanks guys! I don’t think I was clear. There isn’t a closet (linen or otherwise) and I don’t want the cleaning items exposed, which cuts out hanging them on the door in the half-bath.
I’m still thinking about it. I may end up building a cleaning closet (only as deep as the tools need so, as flush as possible) just outside my back door. It occurred to me that it doesn’t matter if they’re cold in the winter 🤣) I can just open up the back door and grab them when I need them.
Hi there,
Hang them behind the door on hooks.
