Hi Melora - I would look for a slipcover. We used a stretchy slipcover and loved the effect. Good luck! Morgan

If you’re a seamstress, you can make your own slipcovers or even reupholster your couch. There are lots of videos on Pinterest or You Tube to help you do this.

Re-upholstery on a complex piece of furniture such as a couch is not an average diy project unless you have previous experience. In order for the fabric to attach to the structure adequately enough to have durability and longevity, you will need many proper specific tools, which are not inexpensive.

At some point you will need access to a sewing machine as well. An industrial sewing machine has the specific presser feet to fit around cushion curves and thick seams in tight corners.

To make your labour worthwhile, upholstery-grade fabric with a sturdy backing needs to be used. This is stiffer, heavier, and more cumbersome to work with compared with simple fashion fabric.

If you are interested in learning the skills of upholstery, my suggestion is to first take a course. Places such as community colleges offer these kinds of opportunities.

Hi Melora! You can also make a slipcover by making a paper pattern from the actual couch, if you sew. If you are asking about reupholstering, hope this helps: https://www.wikihow.com/Reupholster-Furniture
