  • Not a good idea, chalk paint does not do well on high traffic areas. It is more suited to furniture.

The texture in chalk paint will wear off quickly in heavy traffic areas, unless you have a thick sealer on top. And that much chalk paint can be expensive unless you make your own. But there are dozens of recipes for chalk paint on Hometalk Search and Pinterest, and videos on YouTube. The benefit to a chalk paint floor would be that you don’t have to sand the floor first, and the chalk paint will fill in small imperfections. Enjoy your floor! ☺️

I would use a floor and porch paint if you are painting over wood. It will be much more durable. If you used chalk paint you would also have to poly over the paint. Another important question is: What kind of floor are you painting over? There are various ways to paint floors but you need to do some prep work that is specific to the material you are painting.
