Maybe to start playing around, to to a thrift shop or goodwill, or hard sale. Look for a picture frame, that still has a glass front, don't worry about the picture, you can throw it out ! Clean it first , then paint it a vase color that you want to show through in some areas. It can be a darker color looks charcoal or black, or brown. Or you can use an accent color used in the room where it will be hung. Then paint it with chalk paint of your choice, after it dries use sand
paper to lightly scuff areas here and there to let the base color show through. You can choose to seal with a hardening wax, if you want , but it's not necessary. Once the front is done, TURN it over, clean the glass, and use krylon looking glass paint to turn it into a mirror. If you want to make it an antique mercury glass style mirror, check out my post about turning a window into a mercury glass mirror... Have fun !!!
I’ve redone old furniture with chalk paint. You don’t have to do much stripping, just a little sanding over rough edges. The chalk paint goes on any surface smoothly and stays on! Here’s a vintage dresser I did: https://chemistrycachet.com/easy-quick-dresser-makeover/
