How can I "pretty up" the area around the garbage cans?
I am not too concerned with the actual garbage cans. More so interested in making the area around it and leading to driveway nicer. I can easily get rid of the weeds that grow near it, but looking for ideas of what to plant , or perhaps some kind of rock border around it. And also, ideas for plants/flowers in driveway area.
Any ideas /recommendations on how to add a little color to the shaded area in the background would be great. It really gets almost no sun due to the large tree there.

I would add a few more pavers to make it easier to wheel that can out to the curb.
Then you can add either another shutter at the edge of that concrete pad, a bush, a small fence, or a faux shrub to hide the can.....
I made a screen for our HVAC unit area. You could do something similar to this but leave one side open so you didn't have to constantly move it out of the way on trash day. Agree with Sharon, a few more cheap pavers in a path would be nice, too!
Our three large trash cans were visible to street traffic. We placed an inexpensive metal trellis that's about 5 ft. tall next to cans and then planted a passion vine in front. The vine has completely hidden the cans from view (and has done so well it needs more trimming than we have given it lately).
One more paver added, to wheel can onto driveway easier. Add a border of flowers down the edge of driveway. Cut a rounded edge in front of the big tree, lead that edge right to the pine tree edge. Iris,
Hydrangea, Lupine and coneflower to name a few shade perennials.
Sorry, yes border edge. Good luck in making your yard beautiful.
