Kill trees?
We just purchased a home.. our fence and our neighbors fence has about 10" between them.. as you can imagine .. we have trees growing between them.. my health does not allow me to take down a fence to dig them up.. so I'm HOPING. You can educate me on how to kill what's there and prevent so e newer growth.. In advance...
Thank you for any suggestions

Michael, the first thing I would do is check with your neighbor and make sure they too want the trees removed. You never know about property lines without having someone do a survey, and if your neighbor objects to you killing off the trees then you may have legal problems. If your neighbor agrees with your plan then the best thing to do is to cut the trees out as close to the ground as possible. If this is too much for you to do you can always hire a lawn service to come in and do it for you. Then I would buy some stump killer from your local big box store to spray, or pour around the stumps. I would spray everything between the fences. Again, a lawn service can do this for you as well.
You want to make sure that you don't have any run off from the killer going under the fence into the neighbors yard where it will kill bushes or their grass.
Depending on finances... might be worth it to pay someone to remove and haul off the trees... even if you kill the tree, then you have a hazard with it falling ! Then what are you going to do?
I see this all the time in my neighborhood...can never figure out why people leave such small spaces between fences. Can't even get a lawn mower down between there. Or why not just share one fence? Sometimes people are so hard to figure out!
If you can get under the fence, you can girdle the trees. You just strip the bark off in a circle for about an inch around the trees. When the sap cannot travel up and down the tree, it will die.
If you want to chemically kill it with a herbicide, try 2, 4-D.
Rock salt & epsom salt can kill trees. However, it is a slow process.
Anything you do that kills the trees will leave you with a standing dead tree. Then it will most likely fall as Deborah mentioned above. The owner of the property is responsible for removal of a dead tree and any damage it does when it falls. Live trees are considered "act of God" and property owner isn't responsible if they fall and damage others' property.
Thank you everyone.. this are not full grown trees these are seedlings that are growing.. I have them all trimmed down under 3 feet... None if them have a lot of girth.. I apologise.. I should have been more thorough in my message..
However I would like to thank all of you..
