How do I keep washi tape from peeling?
Hello all! This past mothers day I made all my mom friends/family a gift with washi tape. I used a pre cut piece of wood in the shape of a heart, applied washi tape, then put mod podge dimensional magic on it. They turned out wonderful but now with the heat of summer I have people telling me that they are peeling! How can I fix this or prevent it from happening again on future projects?

Hello, you might want to seal them with a spray acrylic sealer. Mod podge makes one if you like their products. Put it on before the dimensional magic to seal the washi tape down better. Give it at least a couple of coats.
Never heard of washi tape. Maybe it's not made for outside.
I've covered light switches and picture frames with washi tape and all have held up for years, even with constant touching on the light switch. I'm also surprised it peeled under dimensional magic.
The only thing I can thing of is that you could glue it down with mod podge while you apply it and then seal.
you can use Fabri-Tac glue, it isn't just for fabrics. It dries clear and is waterproof.
Since you've learned of the issue, I'd seal the project with clear acrylic spray sealer in the future.
Use a sealer on the wood before putting on the washi tape or use mod podge maybe?
I'd definitely seal it or use Mod Podge to lock it in place if you're using it outside or on a rough surface like wood.
Washi tape can be affected by heat and humidity. The sealers recommended here should help. Or you can learn more here: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/washi-tape-ideas-44843299
