How do I make over a bathroom on a small budget?

Paint cabinets but look up how to do it correctly so they don’t peel. Paint walls. Get new fixtures, for sink and maybe towel bars. Save for a really nice mirror, and new lights. If your not renting refinish your shower tub (again find out how much and save for it.) New towels, mats. We had a house once that had one of those ugly littl medicine cabinets that go into the wall. I unscrewed it and pulled it out, taped up some cardboard over it and put a large mirror that fit over the sink right over that. Hung it with Art hooks. And when we moved I replaced the old cabinet and took my mirror with us. (Renting).

I had an ugly 70s medicine cabinet. It is in good shape, but it was gold and ugly. I painted it with chalk paint and waxed it, figuring if it didn't last with the water I would replace it. It's held up for 6 months!

Check prices for fixtures. I found great deals on Amazon and got fixtures for less than 1/3 what I would have found in the store.

Paint can make a room seem like a totally different place. Lowes walmart and home depot all have oops paints that are marked down really cheap (around $12 a gallon!) I found a beautiful pedestal sink on Craigslist for free. I was able to makeover my bathroom including new shelving, towelbars, for less than $100

I helped my friend paint and refinish the vanity in her guest bath and master bath from golden oak to painted and glazed. Proper prep, which included priming and sanding and thin coats of paint gave a great finish for $50. We found a remnant yard for quartz counter tops and for $1300 we did both counters with square undermount sinks which included fabrication and installation. Re installation of newer faucets was just a bit of elbow grease. We installed a tile backsplash $60 for both rooms (tile was 4.99 a square foot). New mirrors were $200 from Kirkland.

While The project may not seem inexpensive, the look went from dated builder grade golden oak with round yellowed cultured marble sinks to new home model finishes. The below listed photos show the painted vanities, counters backsplash in process.
