How do I refinish a table to look like a weathered farm table?

    Use white and black stains to make a grey and streak with the white and black. Also distress it some.

    What kind of finish do you have on the table now? If it's a wood grain, you can always sand it apply a darker stain over it (like a dark walnut or espresso shade if the original wood is a light oak or pine). The darker pigments will adhere to any knicks or more sanded areas to give it a weathered look. If you want to paint the table, you can use a chalk type paint (I like Farmhouse brand) and then lightly sand some areas that would natural show wear and tear. Then you can either go over those areas with a wood stain, or you can paint one color on certain areas of the table, then once dry, paint over the entire table in another color. Then, you can lightly sand off the top layer of paint to show the second color underneath.
