We have done this two ways. The easiest way is to build an island out of an old inexpensive (or free) dresser or an end table. We bought rollers to put on the bottom of ours to be able to move it in the kitchen. I’ve taken kitchen cabinets - reinforced the bottom, added 4 wheels to the bottom, then put piano hinges in place to hold an extension of the top on each side. The wings were held up with brackets. Easy up, easy down.
