I want to put some special t-shirts n team sport shirts in shadow boxes and hang (instead of quilting) on my memory wall for lost loved ones. Would appreciate inexpensive ideas that will blend in with livingroom rustic browns and sports theme of cardinal red.

DIY Shadow Box Using Cardboard
If you do not have all the tools necessary for cutting many small pieces of wood with a fine precise finish, and the items that you are wanting to display are special to you, then I would suggest purchasing ready-made shadow boxes. The goal by displaying large special or sentimental items such as shirts framed in this manner is to focus on the object., and to downplay the look of the box itself. You do not want the eye to go first to the shadow box that may look less than attractive.
By the time you price out all the necessary tools and materials, plus your time for an box with a look that might not meet with expectations, diy in this case may not be worth it.
