Reusing Potting Soil?
Would like to know how to reuse potting soil ? Is it possible, with good results, to save potting soil, add fertilizer to overwinter, and reuse the next Spring? I would incorporate some mulch materials like leaves, eggshells, and coffee grounds.

I have reuse potting soil. Add the organics but not the fertilizer.
I save my potting soil and in the spring I sift through it with my hands and remove any old roots. I don't do anything after my plants die, I just leave it in the pots. When I am ready to reuse I add some fresh soil and mix it well and plant. I then place a little fresh soil around the top of plant.
I have used the same potting soil in containers for 20 years or more. Nothing added until after replanted with flowers. Just a spray of miracle grow. They are gorgeous every year.
Karen, Your soil will do great with the additions you are talking about. I never throw my soil out either
I wouldn't. Soil carries bacteria that may multiply....I would start fresh.
I always reuse mine too, or empty it into my raised bed and have never had a problem with disease :)
I have reused potting soil with great success and didn't do much, except clean out old roots.
i always reuse just add miracle grow
