April
Hi Lisa! Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, it isn't safe to plant until after the last frost, which often is May. I start seeds inside.
I would suggest you buy a Farmers Almanac. It gives you detailed information about planting plus all other kinds of general life information. Best book ever to have. I live in the country and we swear by it.
Depending on your Growing Zone most seeds are planted in April or May. After all chances of frost have gone. Lettuce likes it cooler so it can be started earlier than other seeds.
It depends on where you live but if you are in the US many start their seeds indoors around March and then plant them outside around Memorial weekend. I have planted my seeds outside around Mother's Day weekend if there isn't snow.
Hi Lisa. If you are new to gardening. I suggest you start with plants form a garden center. But try lettuce form seed directly into the soil.
