How to remove rust on a silver plated rim on a cut glass bowl?
This is a pretty cut glass bowl but the silver plate has rusted over time. Any one have an idea how to remove the rust? I'm unable to remove the rim.

Two methods: 1) A damp cloth with baking soda to "scrub" the rust, then rinse with water and dry.

Have you tried a cream silver polish (like's Wright's)? If that did not work, step up to toothpaste on a very soft toothbrush. Removal of the rim probably will not work as there is probably a rim on the glass to hold the trim in place. As a last ditch effort, you could try a silver leafing kit (available at craft stores).
I found this, I hope it helps:

Try WD40 and silver polish.
Have you tried Barkeepers Friend? It's by the Comet, Ajax in the store. Worth a try. Good luck.
I don't think that is rust. The silver is pitted and this is the undercoating of the silver.
I don't know if it works but I heard something about ketchup. Look it up cause I'm not completely sure on the directions. Might be worth trying at least.
I have this same bowl and the metal band was nasty. I soaked it in hot water and it came off easily, but now how to remove the glue residue without etching the glass?
WD -40 , Bicarb, Barkeeper's Friend, If all else fails paint it!
If it is rust ball up a piece of foil and rub that over the rusted area.
