caution - homemade wood cutting boards are known to be almost impossible to remove dangerous germs. dollar stores sell the more safe plastic cutting boards as well as the
thin flexible cutting sheets. for wood frame, consider one inch pine board [good one side or both sides - even new clean plywood ] and use raised wood 'cove or quarter round' wood trim on edges. the plastic cutting surfaces can just ] sit snugly in the frame.

You can make it most simply by getting some premade butcher block counter remnants - try your local restore. Then cut them out with a jigsaw, sand the edges and finish with a good safe finish like Tung oil. :)
