This is a post from someone who painted over a cracked couch, but I think peeling is a different problem. The paint will have a hard time sticking evenly and will probably just keep peeling. However I suppose it depends on the amount of damage to the couch. Here's a peek at the post. http://shadesofamberinc.blogspot.com/2011/11/ascp-leather-sofa.html
Depending on the stage and size of your peeling problem, I wonder if the local shoe repair store has spray dye or a colored wax-dye that could be rubbed into the cracks, then buffed with a good leather conditioner? It's worth a trip to see what products are available, and maybe get some free advice on dealing specifically with pleather. :)
The leather dye/wax dye, and leather conditioners used by shoe repair shops will not work on pleather.
Pleather is another name for soft vinyl. As it does not have the naturally porous fibres and cells that leather has, there is insufficient substance to penetrate into, or adhere to.
