Kimberly, you just have to scoop it out. Are you maybe talking about food that has burned and stuck to the pan? If so, scrape out as much of it as you can, put some dish soap in with a little water and let it soak over night. Then whatever burnt is left you will have to use a scratchy pad with something like Comet until you get it back to shiney metal.
Oh dear, it happens. Tonight I almost let the water run dry when steaming the vegetables.
I would add vinegar to the pot or pan, put back on the stove and bring it to a gentle simmer. Then scrape the food bits off and when the pan cools, wash as normal. Never put a hot pot or pan into cold water, it can warp or damage it.
Soak in heavily salted water overnight. Anything left stuck the next day should come off if you rub it with bicarbonate of soda, dampened.
Add blue dawn dishwashing liquid and very hot water, let it sit an hour or 2!
Try adding some water to the pot or pan and turn on the stove and let the water boil. Let it boil for a few minutes. This should loosen the burned on food so you can remove it easily.
Soak it in hot soapy water. If it's a pot that you cook in, fill with soapy water covering the area that has food stuck, put it on the stove and turn the stove on until it starts to boil. Let boil a few minutes, remove from heat and let the pan cool down. Then empty out the cooled water and if needed scape the stuck on area and use either a brillo or SOS pad.
