My cabinets are white and in good condition. They are factory engineered and look like wood but, I think they may to be a durable vinyl or plastic over wood. Is this considered laminate? What type of paint or antiquing gel can I use on this service to achieve the look below? And can you describe the process.
The antiquing gel I love to use is General Finishes Glaze Effects. I buy mine at Woodcraft (disclaimer: I work there). It comes in several colors but for the look you have pictured, go with Pitch Black. Basically you paint your cabinets, let them dry...then apply the glaze and wipe it back off. The dark stays in the nooks and crannies to give you that antique look you are after. You can use a damp cloth to wipe with to get the cleaner look here or you can leave it a little streaky. Good luck!
@Mary Messenger - I LOVE General Finishes products and their milk paint line is my favorite for updating furniture or cabinets. Black Dog Salvage Furniture Paint is another good one if you like a thicker paint, and it covers very well. I did a tutorial on painting cabinets recently using GF Seagull Gray Milk Paint and Pitch Black Glaze Effects -https://www.hometalk.com/35596879/kitchen-cabinet-conundrum. But let me know if I can help you further. :)
Hi Betty, This is a really simple thing to do, you want to put lots of plastic and paper to protect the counter tops walls and floors. work with one cabinet at a time, pick up a transparent stain in the color you want for the aging, like chocolate brown, or weathered gray, brush it onto the entire cupboard surface be sure to get it in the crevices etc. then use a clean rag to wipe it off, it will leave marks in crevices and on the finish to look aged, repeat with each until done

No, they are generally an oil based stain, and if not they are weather proof even as a latex type base, just allow it to dry for the suggested time
