Can you leave flower pots out over the winter?
Is it OK to turn over flower pots and leave them out during winter? Or is it best to bring them in? Thank you.
I tried to overwinter mine, but had no luck since I live in Zone 6. Geraniums are only perennials in Zones 10 and 11 where it never freezes. If you want to try to bring them inside, keep them in a warm and sunny spot where it gets at least 6 hours of sun a day. Make sure that you don't overwater, since this creates a mildew condition on the leaves that can kill the plants. Good luck!!!

We always throw them out and buy new. I always suggest that people consult with a local nursery. They have the right info for their area.
I'm in zone 9/10. No covering is necessary. If there is not enough rain, water. WAe do freeze, there's nothing harder on a plant than being dehydrated then hit with frost.
I live in northeast Ohio, darned cold . We bring them inside to a sunny window, water once a week and they do fine.
What zone are you In? Makes a difference. I am in zone 9 and no special care is required. In other zones you need to bring them indoors, a barn or garage. Yes they do need light and water but NO fertilizer. Fertilizer is ONLY needed during the growing season, not when it is dormant.
