Sounds nice
You could use Sheetrock paneling
Use the sheet rock. It’s more fire proof . If your furnace and laundry are gas, both have flames.
Hi Mary Lou! I love bead board ceilings. Check with your insurer and/or your local zoning/code enforcement to see if they have an requirements, such as placing sheetrock under the wood. My insurer, for example, at my old house, asked us to replace any suspended ceilings. They didn't seem to care what type of ceiling, as long as that air space was eliminated. There are variations on bead board out there, too, so check them out at your local lumber yard.
Really? we have no restrictions for basement ceilings in our area.
You can buy bead board panels at home improvement stores which you can cut and install over a drywall ceiling.
