WE placed this heavy mirror on our screened in side porch this summer. We also have a smaller mirror on the other side of the house door. In order to really give good answer to your question we should see a picture of the space.
Diane are you asking how to mount a mirror on your front porch? I am assuming the porch is covered but is it protected from the temp. changes (a 3 seasons porch). I live outside the city and would be worried about a mirror outside getting broken.
Mirrors don't like moisture, be aware it will deteriorate the silvering. I don't mind the aged look, just wanted you to be aware.
If you have a setting area, mount it over a table like you would do inside.

I would save the good mirror for inside the home. It is easy to build your own portable 4 seasons mirror:
Bamboo Shade(s)
Paint of any color(s) you like
Mirrored Contact paper
It can be hit with hail, snowballs or even snowmen from a catapult, really, and not break nor be a hazard, plus you can take it with you camping too, and on holidays and birthays if you want to hang ribbons and balloons from it, it is no big hassle, and on hot summer days, just flip it around to keep the porch cool.
