I used peel-and-stick tile recently. You could also try contact paper!
We used peel and stick looking tiles, but they are all one large piece. They make many kinds now, but the least expensive we found were tin types that are gold, silver, or copper colored. They are easy to keep clean too. You can cut them in any shape you need.
Vinyl wallpaper, choose a pattern that repeats frequently, use self stick wallpaper and if it gets dirty, you can wipe it clean or if you grow tired of it, the wallpaper peels off with ease and you can replace with new vinyl wallpaper
