Make sure you plant your mint in a container or somewhere where it can spread. It is a very, very aggressive plant. I have seen it spread from one side of a sidewalk to another.

I have mint growing wild in my back yard , I did not plant it , but it is thriving ! So , I guess the conditions are good. They are growing in an area that gets morning light. I live in N J , and have mostly sandy soil , but this area has had years of leaves and pine needles build up , so the area might have better soil . I would like to give you warning , my mint patch seems to double in size each year, so if you don't want it taking over your yard , use a planter or a divider area in your garden !
