If I am thinking of the right mailbox , is it rectangular with a slightly rounded top ? If it is , as a rural mail carrier for 30 years , I think this is a great mailbox !!! Now as for decorating it you can't put anything that would get in the way of putting mail into it. So this is what I suggest ,
Wrap a ribbon around the post , then tie a big ribbon around the box with a big bow on top . You can slip some pine and pine cone picks
under the bow. As for lights, if you want to try an inexpensive way , buy some battery operated lights from the dollar store and keep the box with the batteries in a ziplock bag tucked out of sight. It would be awesome if you decorated it with bleached pinecones pine tree branches and battery operated copper lights. This would create such a beautiful, whimsical, winter-y mailbox. We hope you feel inspired!!
