How can I make cleaning out my refrigerator easier?
My idea is to put the shelves and internal parts like side door compartments in the dishwasher. But what to use for cleaning the refrigerator?

Dawn dish soap. Vinegar is what I use to wipe out.
Put baking soda in water. Leaves your frig smelling great.used it for years.
Glass shelves can go in dishwasher, but I would question if the plastic parts can handle the hot water temp of a dishwasher. I always do them by hand, much quicker and can be put back right away. Many of the things can't stay out of the fridge for hours. I clean mine with mild soap and water and do a vinegar rinse to make sure they are disinfected. While you are at it, make sure to clean the gaskets around the door. I use a thin rag wrapped around a dull tipped table knife or a butter knife. Mold/mildew can collect in all the folds and it doesn't seal properly. I do this with bleach water, the spray in vinegar to make sure that the surface is really clean, disinfected and any lingering mold/mildew spores are killed. I line my drawers with at least double stacked paper towels to catch any moisture. I hope this helps you, Sue! Have a great Thanksgiving!
If your door shelves are like mine, they are very clear plastic. Putting them in a dishwasher will DESTROY them. Dishwasher detergent contains pumice and will put tiny, microscopic pits into the plastic. This will give them a cloudy look as if they are covered in mineral deposits from very hard water. They will always look dirty after being in the dishwasher. Remove the shelves that are removeable and hand wash them in warm soapy water. I prefer Dawn dish-washing liquid as it is great for removing grease. Wipe down the walls inside your refrigerator will a solution of white vinegar and baking soda in warm water. This will make it sparkle and remove any odors.
