When ants enter your home, they leave a pheromone trail for other ants to follow. Soon, you’ll see a trail of ants marching into your house. Eliminate the trailing ants and their trail with soapy water, all-purpose cleaner, or a bleach solution. This will kill the ants and remove their pheromone smell so that other ants don’t follow.
Mix 1 tablespoon (9 grams) of boric acid into 1.25 cups (251 grams) of sugar. Sprinkle the mixture around areas the ants frequent, such as around water pipes, in the back of the pantry, or just inside the door. Keep children and pets away from the mixture, as it’s toxic.
Mix 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of peanut butter, 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of honey, and 0.5 teaspoons (2.5 grams) of borax. Place a small amount on little pieces of cardboard, then put the cardboard where the ants are active. The worker ants will take the bait back to the colony, killing all of the ants. Keep out of the reach of kids and pets.
Peppermint and tea tree essential oils work well.
Ants are making their way into homes this time of year. Natural pest control methods can help you cope with and eliminate the problem.

Hi Vanessa - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

Terro ant baits are the best. Don’t spray or kill the ones you find. Follow the trail to see where they are coming in. Clean the area nearby to get rid of other food sources. Put out the baits so they can’t help but find them. Once they do, the ants will take the poison back to the colony and signal the others to do the same. You may be shocked by how many you see. I once lived in a rental where I started seeing ants by a window so I put out terro baits and there must have been hundreds of thousands of ants living in that wall. I had to go buy more because the stream of ants was relentless for days. Eventually the thick black line on my sill got thinner then eventually stopped. I cleaned the area up and caulked the sill.
Borax and powdered sugar
Put a jar lid with little sugar and borax they cant digest the borax it makes them swell up and die
First if you can follow a trail and find a source of sugar or soda spilled and dried etc.; you eliminate the source. Then take clove oil and/chalk and heavily mark across your door ways into the house where they are coming in from the outside. The clove oil is very burny and because they lick their feet it burns and they stop coming in the house. Same with chalk lines if thick enough; the chalk is too dry and they stay away from being dried out. Non toxic and it has worked for me in two separate houses.
